Pre-Clinical Research
The Pre-clinical Laboratory of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience contains a state of the art 11.7 T vertical bore magnet. The preclinical MR spectroscopy lab is focused on assessing the MR-visible neurochemical profile in drug-induced or genetic animal models of neuropsychiatric disorders as well as assessment of metabolomic profiles characteristic of human tissue. Since the high-resolution magic angle spinning proton spectra obtained at 11.7 Tesla is determined with intact tissue samples, the information derived from these studies in situ will provide insight into the diagnostic or research value of clinical proton scans in vivo.
