OCD Study for Teens

The Spirit of Detroit statue holding a brain

Overview

The Wayne State University School of Medicine is recruiting pre-teens/teens between 12-19 years of age to participate in a paid MRI research study that will help us understand OCD in teenagers. The research participation requires approximately 3-5 hours for completion of a clinical assessment, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and optional blood (hormonal) testing. The clinical assessment component includes questionnaires and psychological tests, is completed via Zoom and can be scheduled at a time convenient for you. The MRI procedure is a brain scan completed in about 2 hours at the Detroit Medical Center and is usually scheduled as an early morning appointment. For hormonal testing, participants are also given a choice to provide a blood sample.

A diagnosis of OCD is not a prerequisite to participate.

Exclusions for the study include left-handedness, neurological abnormalities, chronic medical illness, implanted metallic objects, or orthodontic braces.

For taking part in this research study, participants receive up to $193 via the Tango Gift Card system:

  1. Zoom assessment $50
  2. MRI $100
  3. Optional blood draw $25
  4. Travel & parking $18.
